I am STILL training Lee to spread vegemite at my preferred consistency on toast. I may be training him forever. Vegemite training is serious business.

I’ve been told I’m super good at spreading vegemite for people though. Apparently I have innate vegemite skills.

Images come in the following formats:

jpg, gif, tiff, bmp, ai, psd, psp, ppm, png, eps, pdf, etc.

They do not come in .doc or .docx format. That is the equivalent of giving someone a sticker by first sticking it to a piece of paper, thereby ruining all the fun.

Truth has been spoken. I prefer the PSD, EPS, or PDF files. But for the love of god, don’t send me a .doc, a .docx, or a .ppt or one day I shall go mad.

Send me a 30KB .gif and expect something printworthy out of it? I AIN’T EVEN MAD, I FINESSE VECTOR GRAPHICS OUT OF JAGGY SHIT BEFORE BREAKFAST.
Send me a bank of images embedded in a .ppt? I WILL PEE ON EVERYTHING YOU HOLD DEAR… immediately after Powerpoint gets done sludging up my processor by pooping itself.

All the time police send us mugshots of wanted criminals in .doc form, and it makes me want to do things that would end up with me being wanted by the police and the only thing stopping me from doing those things is not wanting to be someone else’s .doc problem.

All of this is familar to me. Not only that, people hand us shitty .doc or .docx’s on usb’s and then expect us to magically use that file to embroid. And when told, ‘no, we need to digitize it first’, get angry as they ‘already got their little cousin to design it in photoshop’.

Yes. Because an image file is going to contain all the instructions to run an embroidery machine. ::headdesk::

Pages 2-9 have been used to write grocery lists, then they are put in a box with the rest of the monstrosities.

I only realised the true extent of my sketchbook/notebook problem when I moved a few months ago. I had more packing time than usual, so I actually organised all my boxes as opposed to just cramming shit in, and… wow. So. Many. Notebooks. And all of them are like this. ::hangs head in shame::

The more I work at my current place of employment, the more I realise most people have absolutely no idea how garments are constructed.

Just had a young guy in inquiring about getting his initials embroidered onto a very fitted, and VERY expensive suit jacket. It took me 20 minutes to explain to him that whilst it was, technically, do-able, I’d have to either do it a) straight through the outer & lining, with the back of the embroidery & backing fabric exposed, or b) completely remove the lining, unpick (and detach) the collar or breast pocket (depending on placement), and possibly let out a seam or two in order to get a nicely flat & taut area of fabric framed for embroidery. And then reconstruct the garment again.

He then said that one of the directors where he worked had his initials on all his suits, so it obviously can’t be that hard. I think I just revolutionised his entire world by explaining the concept of bespoke. And the concept of embroidering the monogram to the pattern piece before sewing it together.

I really wish I could say this guy was an outlier. But I get someone in like this at least once a week - if not more like once a day. Tumblr, prove me wrong! You all know how clothes are made, right?
